The Department of Biosciences established in the year 2003 with an aided program in MSc Biotechnology and later evolved as a full-fledged department of biosciences with UG programmes in Biotechnology and Microbiology; PG programmes in Microbiology and Biochemistry. The department surges ahead victoriously through these years with an established vision of inculcating research acumen in young minds. The cardinal features of the department are regular conduct of seminars/workshops with the financial assistance of UGC, KSCSTE, KBC and IASc, UGC minor research projects, KSCSTE funded student research projects and funded extension activities. The department laboratory is DST-FIST supported and offers consultancy services in Water quality analysis and molecular identification of microorganisms. Over the years the students of the Biosciences department have come out with flying colours in their career; there are research associates working in international laboratories, doctoral degree holders, CSIR-UGC JRF holders and some of them are part of industry and clinical laboratory.
