Other Scholarships

The Government of Kerala has introduced various scholarships awarded to meritorious students of outstanding performance in the education sector as well as to the students of socially and economically backward categories. The Higher Education Department of Government of Kerala is entrusted with the responsibility of selection and disbursement of various scholarships to Under Graduate and Post Graduate Streams.

Following are the types of categories of scholarship that the students can avail during their period of study

Postmetric Scholarship

Rate of Scholarship

An amount equivalent to Admission and Course/Tuition Fee and Maintenance allowance, subjected to a maximum ceiling. See Instructions for details.

Eligibility

  • Should be the First Year student of

i. Plus Two/ UG/ PG/ Ph.D Course of Higher Secondary School/ College/ Institutes/ University, which is either a Govt/ Aided/Recognised Unaided Institution.

OR

  ii. 11th Class/Technical/ Vocational Course of ITI/ITC Centres affiliated to NCVT.

OR

 iii. Course, other than those listed in under merit-cum-means scholarship scheme. The names of courses listed under Merit-cum-means scholarship are given in See Instructions for details.

  • Should belong to Minority Community (Muslim/ Christian/ Buddhists/ Sikh/ Zoroastrians or Parsis).
  • Should have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous Board/ University Examination.
  • The Annual Family Income should not exceed Rs. 2 Lakhs.
  • Should not be availing any other Scholarship or Stipend. Other Relevant Information
  • Scholarships will not be given to more than two students in a family.
  • The scholarships will be sanctioned in accordance with the criterion laid down by the Central Government

Central Sector Scholarship Eligibility Details

Rate of Scholarship:

Under Graduate Students: Rs.1000/- per month for (Subject to a Maximum ofRs. 10,000/- for an academic year) and Rs. 2000/- per month for Post-Graduatestudies (Subject to a Maximum of Rs. 20,000/- for an academic year), providedthey are selected for Scholarship at UG level.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant should be pursuing any Regular Course at Under-Graduate Degreelevel in any recognized Educational Institution, including Professional Coursessuch as Medical, Engineering etc. Students pursuing Parallel/ Private Registration/ Correspondence/ Distance Education courses are not eligible toapply for this scholarship.
  • Parental income Both Father and Mother should not exceed Rs 6 lakhs per annum for the financial year ending March 2013
  • Applicant should not be availing any other scholarships/ Financial Assistance.
  • Applicants should not be belonging to the Creamy-layer as defined by theDepartment of Personal and Training in their Notification number36012/22/93 Esst.(SCT) dated 8/11/93 (Annexure IV) and as modified videtheir OM No.36033/3/2004-Esst(Res) Dated: 9/3/2004 (Annexure V) and asmay be modified from time to time.

Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship Eligibility Details

Rate of Scholarship:

Rs. 10,000/- per annum.

Eligibility

  • Should be a first year student of Under Graduate or Post Graduate course in Govt/ Aided colleges or University Departments.
  • Should belong to BPL family.
  • Should have scored 50% or above in the qualifying Examination.

Minority Welfare Scholarship

  • C H Muhammedkoya Scholarship Eligibility Details

Rate and Number of Scholarships:

Under Graduates: Rs. 5,000/- per annum (3,000 Nos).

Post Graduates: Rs. 6,000/- per annum (1,000 Nos).

Professional Courses: Rs. 7,000/- per annum (1,000 Nos).

Hostel Stipend: Rs. 13,000/- per annum (2,000 Nos).


THOSE WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR HOSTEL STIPEND WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR SCHOLARSHIP.

Eligibility

  • Should belong to MUSLIM, Latin, Converted Christian community and should be a native of Kerala.
  • Should be a GIRL student studying for the first year of Graduation or Higher courses in Govt./ Aided Institution.
  • Students who got admission to Self financing colleges from merit seat are also eligible to apply for this scholarship.
  • Should have scored 50% or above in the qualifying Examination.
  • Family Annual income should not exceed 6 Lakhs.
  • Those who apply for Hostel stipend should be staying in recognized hostels.

Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Award Eligibility Details

Eligibility

  • Should belong to Muslim, Cristain, Sikkh, Buddah, Parsis, Jains community
  • Family Annual income should not exceed 6 Lakhs
  • Should study in Govt/Aided Schools
  • Should be a native of Kerala

State Merit Scholarship Eligibility Details

Rate and Number of Scholarships:

Graduation Rs. 1250/- per annum (300 Nos)

Post GraduationRs. 1,500/- per annum (150 Nos.)

Eligibility Conditions:

  • Should be a first year student of Under Graduate or Post Graduate course in Govt/ Aided colleges or University Departments.
  • Should have scored 50% or above in the qualifying Examination.
  • Family annual income should not exceed 1 Lakh. For Exemption of annual income based on merit, please see the notification.

District Merit Scholarship Eligibility Details

Rate of Scholarship:

Rs. 1,250/- per annum.

Eligibility:

  • DMS Should have scored A Plus in all subjects in the SSLC Examination March 2013, conducted by Board of Public Examinations, Kerala State.
  • Should be studying for Higher Secondary/ VHSC/ ITI/ Poly Technic Course.

Blind/ph Scholarship Eligibility Details

Eligibility

Blind/PH/Deaf students studying in Govt/Aided Arts and Science Colleges, Music Colleges, and Govt/Aided Higher Secondary/Vocational Higher Secondary Schools

Financial Support

  • Fee Charges for Blind students with family annual income below Rs. 2.5 lakhs
  • Hostel charges for all PH students who are hostellers and whose family annual income is below Rs. 4.5 lakhs/-
  • Boarding charges for all PH students who are day scholars and whose family annual income is below Rs. 4.5 lakhs

E- GRANTZ

For students pursuing post-matric courses approved by the University / Board

Eligibility:

Students pursuing post-matric courses approved by the university / board
Students admitted under merit and reservation quota

  • Students who belong to the categories of Scheduled castes, other eligible communities, OBCs and other communities who are socially and economically backward including forward castes
  • Students whose attendance is not below 75% at the end of each month

Income Limit:

For Degree courses: Rs.100000/-
For PG and Professional courses: Rs.100000/-
Others: For +2 course Rs: 100000/-

  • Lumpsum grant, Monthly stipend (day scholars) ABLC + Pocket Money (hostellers) Reimbursement of Tuition Fee, Special fee and examination fee in full without income limit.

  • For +1 and +2 Monthly stipend, reimbursement of special fee and exam fee subject to income limit
  • Financial Support

For Degree Courses

Fee is sanctioned once in an Academic year and paid to institution’s Account.

  • LSG is sanctioned once in a year, stipend and mess Charges are sanctioned are credited to students bank Account.
