Department Of Tourism
- B.Voc Tourism Administration & Hospitality (Self Finance)
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched a scheme on skills development based higher education as part of College/University education, leading to Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Degree with multiple exits such as Certificate/Diploma/Advanced Diploma under the NSQF (National Skill Qualifications framework). The B.Voc Programme is focused on universities and colleges providing undergraduate studies which would also incorporate specific job roles along with broad based general education. This would enable the graduates completing B.Voc to make a meaningful participation in accelerating India’s economy by gaining appropriate employment, becoming entrepreneurs and creating appropriate knowledge.
With the grant from the UGC, MES College Marampally started the Department of Vocational studies in 2014 with two B.Voc degrees. Following the success of these two courses, The UGC granted three additional vocational courses in 2018 and in December 2020 the Department of Tourism Administration & Hospitality came into existence. The department offers a B.Voc degree in Tourism Administration & Hospitality.
The course has been designed to suit the contemporary requirements of the industry and aims at promoting skill development and entrepreneurship among students. The department conducts industrial visits to various centers of repute in the tourism industry and encourages students to showcase and market their skills at various fora. In order to encourage innovation, Team B.Voc has formed the Innovation Cell for Vocational Studies which comprises a start-up for tourism-related entrepreneurship, providing consultancy services and tour packages at nominal rates.
Also providing open course in safety for public and students of other departments.
