Women Cell

“Intellectually, mentally, and spiritually, woman is equivalent to a male and she can participate in every activity.” – Gandhiji.

Women’s empowerment is the process in which women expand and recreate what it is that they can be, do, and accomplish in a circumstance that they previously were denied. It is the process for women to redefine gender roles that allows for them to acquire the ability to choose between known alternatives that have otherwise been restricted from such ability.

The women cell has been pressed into service for the empowerment of girl students. This service unit takes care of creating social awareness, justice and infuses courage and fortitude amongst the girls by undertaking certain socially useful projects for women empowerment, Women and justice, Female Health hazards etc. The Cell endeavors to alleviate the negative forces that confront women, both on the campus and in the city. The Women Cell handles issues related to women’s welfare.

The competitions conducted by the Cell are designed to showcase students’ talents, boost their confidence and identify their strength areas. Essay writing, Collage, poster making, quiz, singing, mehandi design, and poetic competitions are some such contests. Various seminars are organized by the Cell on relevant topics every year. The members have served the local society during their visits to the school for the differently-abled, to orphanages and homes for destitute women. Every year Women’s Day is celebrated with an important issue or theme in mind, to be highlighted during the programmes. Women’s Development Cell at MES College, Marampally, Aluva is a body of female students guided by five lady teachers, presided by the Principal. The college also has a admired tailoring unit working under the women cell.
